Frequently asked questions in the blogging world are, “How do I create calls to action when I am not supposed to sell my services in blog posts?”, “Why is my blog not generating leads?”, and “Why is no one sharing my content?” According to BestBloggingTipsOnline, there are eight things you can do to create effective calls to action in your dental web design.

Decide on the direction for the blog post. Do you want to sell something? Are you attempting to educate the patient? Is the blog post simply an advertisement? Simply stating, “Here. Buy this  item for no reason,” is insulting. Writing like you care will not offend the patient. Don’t be afraid to build a relationship.

So the patient has read your perfectly crafted blog post. Now what? This is what they are thinking. Is there an action prompting the patient? If not, they’ll just close the window and move on. The potential patient needs guidance, and here is how to offer it.

  • Create urgency in your writing. Think of those late night infomercials and how they always state at the end, “Call in the next ten minutes, and get a second item for free!” It always stirs up a feeling inside that tempts your hand to shoot out, and dial the number as fast as possible.
  • Using a phone number is a good option. Cell phones are always close by in this day and age. Strategically place a telephone number near the bottom of your blog posts.
  • Make sure to show a specific action. This way you can use multiple calls to action on the page. If you are looking to promote your phone number, “Call now for a free consultation.” To bolster your news feed, “Subscribe now, and get important health information delivered directly to your inbox.” And don’t forget to offer a social media share button entitled, “Share this with your friends and family.”
  • Placement is key, if you use multiple calls to action on the page. Don’t use too many in one place. Patients get confused and will take no action when too many choices are offered. Spread them out. You can even offer directions like, “Get our newsletter by subscribing at the top left sidebar.”
  • Use color, it’s a great way to draw attention. The eye easily wanders to the edges of the page. The bottom is a good place for a contrasting link or image. Make the call to actions click-able whether it’s an image or a link.

If you have no calls to action on older blog posts, go back and add some. Remember to test your calls to action. Feel free to change them up if they are not working for you. Easy and straightforward are keys to generating leads.
